Bea Modisett: Drawings and Paintings
My Return From Hambidge
Hi Friends,
I have returned from one of the best experiences of my life!!! The Hambidge Center provided me with a private studio/cottage for five weeks in the mountains of Georgia. Myself and six other artists enjoyed independence and solitude to pursue our work. I am very excited about the developments my work made while I was in residence, and happy to say that momentum has continued since my return. I will be posting new work on my website soon, but in the meantime visit www.beamodisett.blogspot.com to review my time down south. It was a blast and a half.

I have a few other projects and developments happening soon too which I will keep updated on my blog and here. Things are happening my friends!

Thanks for stopping by.

This Collective Pull : A Mass Collaboration
This Collective Pull : A Mass Collaboration
fivesevendelle
Feburary 6th - Feburary 28th
Opening Reception: February 6th
Curated by Bea Modisett and Julie O'Boyle

This Collective Pull is an artist initiated, Beverly based movement formed to raise awareness of Boston area artists while working to encourage a strong, collaborative community. Started in May 2009 by Bea Modisett, This Collective Pull began as a small, one night only exhibition hung in a local apartment. Now in it's third incarnation, more artists have joined the cause and we are pleased to be installing the work of Massachusetts artists for a month long exhibition at fivesevendelle, an alternative gallery space in Mission Hill. Join us for a fabulous evening to meet the artists, find new collaborators, view the artwork and learn how to get involved with This Collective Pull and fivesevendelle. The opening reception is February 6th, 6:00 at fivesevendelle. 57 Delle Avenue, Boston MA. The exhibit will be on display, by appointment, until Feburary 28th. For more information email Bea Modisett at this.collective.pull@gmail.com or visit www.thiscollectivepull.blogspot.com. Also, find This Collective Pull and fivesevendelle on Facebook. We hope to see you at the opening!
The Hambidge Center
If you have been following my blog you would know that I have been anxiously awaiting a decision letter from The Hambidge Center for quite some time now. The Hambidge Center is an artist residency program located in Rabun Gap, GA. I have been eyeing this program for quite some time now because of the amazing cottage/studio they provide to each of the eight artists in residence, and also because of the focus on solitude during the creative process. I am happy to say that I have been ACCEPTED for a five week residency starting in March!! I am so excited about this opportunity! To learn more about the program visit www.hambidge.org and follow my blog! www.beamodisett.blogspot.com

Cheers!

This Collective Pull II + Interview
Hi All,

This Saturday is the opening for the second installment of "This Collective Pull." I am co-curating with Julie O'Boyle and Chris Sharp. This show is bigger and better than the last with 11 participating artists, a longer guest list, and already booked venues for future shows. If you'd like to stop by, please drop me a line. The opening is August 22nd starting at 5:00pm in Beverly. Below is the press release:

Beverly artists and curators Bea Modisett, Julie O’Boyle and Chris Sharp are happy to announce the launch of the second “This Collective Pull,” a one night only art exhibition, opening on August 22nd at 5:00 pm. Modisett, a 2007 graduate of Montserrat College of Art, conceptualized and initiated the first “This Collective Pull” last June, in an effort to unite local area artists. This initial exhibition spurred O’Boyle and Sharp to jump on board for the second incarnation which will feature the painting, photography, drawing and sculpture of Justin Bothwell, Peter Brefini, Steven Carvalho, David McCoy, Mary Bucci McCoy, Bea Modisett, Julie O’Boyle, Shawn Salinger, Chris Sharp, Sarah Smith, and Adria Sutter. These exhibitions are hung in alternative venues throughout the area in an effort to raise awareness of, and create a stronger collaborative community within, the artists of the North Shore. The momentum of this second show has proven to be successful with the offer of two venues for the future installations of “This Collective Pull.”

For more information on the concept, opening location (it has a roof deck!), or to participate in the next show please email Bea Modisett at this.collective.pull@gmail.com.

This Collective Pull
Hi All,

This Friday is the opening for a curatorial project I have been working on called "This Collective Pull." This show will feature the work of a number of local artists who have been working in their studios, but not showing their paintings/drawings/photographs. For one night only we will be taking over the walls of a friend's apartment. I hope this project will bring people together to talk about what is happening right here in Beverly, and let people from outside of Beverly know that exciting, artistic things are happening here. This is the first opening of many shows to come. The night will consist of great art, food, wine and lots of music and tons, TONS of dancing. The show will be taking place at 66 Dane Street, Beverly MA on Friday, June 12 beginning at 7:00. I hope you can make it, and please contact me if you have any questions!

Small Works '09
I am happy to announce that two of my small drawings were accepted into "Small Works '09" hosted by Experimental Art Gallery and Studio on Artists' Row in Salem, MA. Untitled 1 (From the Mental Vault Series) and Untitled 2 (from the Mental Vault Series) will be on display.

I will post information regarding the opening as soon as it become available to me.
